Our news Star Kalatzan joins MEC

Monday 8 February 2010

Mediaedge:cia (MEC), www.mecglobal.com, a leading media agency, announced today that Star Kalatzan has joined the agency as Managing Director, responsible for IKEA, Novartis, YUM! and Toys'R'Us, among other clients.

Based in New York, Star will be part of MEC's North American Executive Committee and will report to Lee Doyle, CEO, MEC North America.

"Star is a huge asset to our senior leadership team. She has a proven track-record in integrated strategic planning and digitally-led thinking which she has applied, with great success, to blue-chip clients in a variety of businesses and categories," said Lee Doyle. "As an organization, we are committed to providing best-in-class client service and I couldn't be happier that Star has rejoined the team."

Star worked for MEC eight years ago, where she held a key role on the AT&T business. Star joins MEC from Universal McCann in New York where she was Senior VP, Managing Director. Star has over 15 years experience in the industry; previous positions have included Group Media Director at JWT and Director of Media at Hill Holliday NY.

Commenting on her appointment, Star Kalatzan said, "I am excited to come back "home" to MEC. It's an agency where we make a real difference to our clients' business."

Key appointments made by MEC in 2009 include Mark Yesayian, an industry veteran with extensive experience in digital marketing and top-level client management who joined MEC as Managing Director of Digital Operations on the West Coast including MEC's Seattle, San Francisco, LA and Irvine offices. Beth Egan joined the agency, in August, from Universal McCann, as an Account Director on the AT&T business. Mason Franklin, formerly at Leo Burnett, was brought on board as a communications planning specialist, working closely with the Consumer Insights team, also on the AT&T business.
